Generally it is safe to eat all kind of food, both western or Thai food, but if you have a sensitive stomach, then you maybe should avoid spicy food, but all food served in town are of high quality, so there is nothing to worry about.

Then there is the story about travelling and icecubes in drinks, you can safely have icecubes in your drinks, all ice served in town are made by serious factories, and not made of some unknown standard water in the back.
Personal security, criminality
Most of the hotels offer free safe deposits to their guests, use them to store your jewelry and cash. If your hotel not have safe deposits, then ask where to find a place offering such services, there are shops specialized in offering safe deposits. Wear only what you expect to use during the day, evening or night. Do not leave expensive items on your hotelroom.

Do not wear jewelry exposed when you walk in the evening or night, there is cases of hit and run thefts, where motorcycles passes by and snatch jewelry or handbags, so be careful.

Specially be careful when walking on both Pattaya and Jomtien Beachroads in the late hours.

Remember to have a travel insurance, make copies of the insurance paper and your passport, and wear the copies in your handbag or wallet, it can be useful if your are brought to a hospital.

Health, illness, accidents
Malaria is not a threat in Pattaya, but still mosquito bites can be irritant, so use drugs for repelling biting insects, the drugs can be bought in mostly all convenient shops, drug stores, super marts etc. Ask for help, everybody will be pleased to assist you, maybe they even offer to go and buy it for you.

If you need medicine for light illness, then you can safely visit one of the many small drug stores around in town.

More serious illness can be treated in the doctors clinics, that also are available around town.

Ambulance service is not a public thing in Thailand, so if you need ambulance service's then call the hospitals in town, the have their own ambulance service.

Ask hotelstaff or staff at restaurants and bars, if you not feel well, everybody will be pleased to help you, if you need assistance.

Traffic, walking, driving, renting cars and motorcycles
Be careful when crossing streets, take a special look for small motorcycles driving high speed and changing lanes.

Be careful if you rent car or motorcycle and drive in town, Thai traficrules are sometimes overruled by what is convenient, so be prepared to meet some other driving the wrong way in one-way streets, or somebody just drive out in front of you.

When renting motorcycles at some the vendors on the streets, you are asked to deposit your passport, do not, maybe the just keep your passport i their bag, give instead a copy of your passport and a copy of your receipt from your hotel.
Wear helmet when you drive motorcycle, otherwise you will have the experience meeting the local policeofficers and will be fined, which means you have to go to the policestation and pay the fine, and then return to you vehicle and show the nice policeofficer your receipt, and get your keys back.

About helmets, then it is possible to buy a cheap helmet (they are available in all prices from 100 to 700 THB) in all motorcycleshops, Big C, Tesco Lotus, Carrefour and many other shopping centers, but bicycling helmets is also accepted, and can be comfortable in the heat.

In cars, fasten seatbelts, special frontseat passengers, otherwise you will be fined for that too, and the procedure is again go to the policestation to pay your fine.

Fines can not be paid to the policeofficer, you have to waste your time paying a visit at the policestation.
